Nature-Rich Ingredients

In keeping with our mission, to cherish and serve the relationship we have with our clients, we at Brenda’s Body use an abundance of ingredients from nature.  The following is a list of ingredients used in one or more of our products:

Note:  the first name is the INCI name (International Nomenclature for Cosmetic Ingredients) which is required by the U.S.  Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be listed on all cosmetic labels if such a name exists.  The name following it is the ‘lay’ name for the ingredient

Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter):
The oil from the nuts of wild shea trees scattered throughout West and Central Africa.  It has soothing, moisturizing, and protecting properties that help protect skin against climate and UV rays, prevent wrinkles, sooth irritated and chapped skin, and moisturize the skin. Used in Shea Butter Silk Body Lotion; New Creamy Shea Body Butter;  All Natural Night Time Face Saver;  Salt Butter Scrub

Mangifera Indica (Mango Butter):
An off-white substance taken from the seed kernels of the mango tree.  It has good emolliency that lends protection against the sun and helps prevent drying of the skin.  Used in Lotion go ‘Round

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa Butter):
The solid fat expressed from the roasted seed of the cocoa bean of the cacoa tree native to South America.  It is highly protective of the skin and contains about 5 IU of Vitamin E per ounce.  It helps to reduce dryness and improve skin flexibility. Used in New Creamy Shea Body Butter

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Fractionated Coconut Oil):
An oil that contains only the medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) of coconut oil, making it a liquid.  It is light, non-staining and non-greasy and provides long-lasting emolliency to the skin.  Used in Shea Butter Silk Body Lotion  ‘Especailly for Him’ Body and Massage Oil

Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed Oil):
A very light weight oil made from the seeds of grapes.  Contains vitamins and minerals for conditioning the skin.  It is easily absorbed into the skin and does not leave a greasy residue.  Used in Hand Lotion with Vitamin E

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil):
A waxy liquid similar to the skin’s natural sebum.  Easily penetrates the skin and is rich in Vitamin E.  Has been known to help soothe eczema and psoriasis, is highly moisturizing, and is especially good for sensitive, dry skin.  Used in
All Natural Night Time Face Saver

Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot Kernel Oil):
A medium-light weight oil made from apricot pits.  It is high in Vitamin A and is an emmolient known to have smoothing effects on skin.  Used in Lotion go ‘Round

Rosa Cania Fruit Oil (Rosehip Oil):
An oil harvested from a species of wild roses.  Known for its healing benefits, it has been shown to improve the elasticity of the skin, regenerate skin cells, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, slow down premature aging, and reduce scars.  It is high in Vitamin C, Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids.  Used in All Natural Night Time Face Saver for mature skin

Sodium Chloride (Dead Sea Salt Powder):
A mineral-rich salt that contains Potassium, Magnesium, and Bromide that work together to help regulate the moisture level of the skin, promote healing, and smooth.  Sea salt is well known for its ability to draw out toxins from the skin.  The high mineral content of Dead Sea salt stimulates blood and lymphatic circulation.  Regular use promotes healthy skin by exfoliating and encouraging regeneration of new skin cells.  Used in Salt Butter Scrub.

The following ingredients are used in many of our products as natural anti-oxidants and natural preservatives:

Tocopherol (Vitamin E):
An all-natural antioxidant oil obtained by processing food-grade vegetable oils which helps extends the shelf life of products.

Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary ) Leaf Extract:
An oil-soluble, all-natural antioxidant-grade oleoresin used as an anti-oxidant to help preserve oil-based products.

Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit Seed Extract):
Contains antioxidants vitamins A, C, and E which slow down the rancidity process of oils.
